Grassroots sport plays a massive part in our society. At Proximity, we are huge advocates of the next generation being afforded every possible opportunity, and we decided ahead of the 2026/27 football season to support a local football club. This came in the form of Huncoat United Under 10s (Black).
Living in the local area, with a business in the local area, we responded to a social media request to support Huncoat United but, as with most things Proximity, the links were ‘closer than you think’.
The team’s co-manager, Andrew Smith, is a family friend, and his son Joey-Jack plays in the side. Joey-Jack is also a former student of Proximity’s former teacher, turned CEO, Kath Cordey-Hanson.
Kath said:
“It was important for us to support the local community and, when Andrew reached out on social media, it was a bit of a no-brainer.
“We wanted to support a local community club, and Huncoat United have a tremendous record of success, both on and off the pitch. From safeguarding to scoring goals, they provide a great pathway for children in the local area to express themselves.
“Their social media presence is also outstanding, and we have seen some of ‘our new team’ proudly displaying their Proximity-branded strips throughout Europe and beyond during the summer holidays.
“Working with an Under 10s team enables us to follow their pathway with the club throughout the age groups, and we look forward to being part of their journey, season by season.
“The club proudly promotes our partnership, and we are proud to be associated with them.”
